Time Magazine

Time Magazine has released its annual Top 100 World's Most Influential People issue (on stands now) and, well, I'm one of their choices! Not only that but they have my photo on the cover. I had no idea they would put me on the cover so when I just checked it out moments ago I was floored. I've read Time almost every week for the last 7 years of my young adult life.

This is yet another moment where I am sitting, staring at this unreal achievement and remembering how many times I hung out with fans after shows over the years. How many of you would say things along the lines of "don't stop what you're doing Dane" or "you'll get paid back for the hard work and passion." I have in so many ways this last year has been and continues to be really fucking special.

They speak about how I have blazed a new trail in the world on stand up comedy and business. Several of you are writing and asking what my thoughts are on this prestigious inclusion and what it means to me. I will tell you this. I never wanted to be just a kinda funny guy in some club in the middle of some place. I made a decision when I started that I would do everything in my power to take this art form I respect and love participating in and around so much to new places. Entertainment is why I am alive and on this planet. I've always avoided doing it like other people do it. Putting my own spin on things on and off stage is where my desire lived. Leaving a mark that forever showed people my "love of the game."

I can say without ego that I have done what I set out to do. These amazing times are not the end of a chapter but the end of a book for me. I have a new "book" I am writing but now I have a fan base worldwide to share these accomplishments with. I may not always hit the mark. I may fuck up and slip now and again but knowing that 16 years of going with my gut took me here! I can really go full tilt and bring ideas to life in newer and bigger ways. I hope you all realize this is something I could never have done alone. Thanks for sticking by me and thank you to Time Magazine for this wonderful honor I've shared with my family, friends and fans. Just to clear up a couple of rumors. YES I sold a movie idea to Disney but the name leaked out "Dad Knap" is wrong. I don't have a title for it yet. The other movie with the Weinstein Company is called "Ex-Family".
